severe emphysema and chest infection for 3 weeks

My dad has severe emphysema and has had a really bad chest infection for 3 weeks at least .Hes been on antibiotics for 2 1/2 weeks and 6 steroids a day .Hes now on different antibiotics for another month,more steroids and also been put on azithromycin 500mg every mon,weds,fri for the foreseeable future.He is still no better and hasnt even got any energy to get out of bed .His chest ,just one side is really hurting as well.His oxygen is good but he is so breathless and weak .Any advice would be appreciated from Sam
