I have a three old boy who since birth has had breathing issues. He was born by C-section and the hospital was not equipped for a baby that badly needed the NICU. They let him lay there breathing heavily for 4 days and even gave him a spinal tap before transporting him to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY. He has been in and out of the doctor since he was released from the hospital, and has had continuous ear infections that has led to scaring of his ear drums. He was admitted to the hospital last year with pneumonia and the doctor started him on pulmicort and zyrtec. He is seeing an allergist and if things dont get better will have to have allergy shots once a week. Yesterday at daycare he started throwing up and could not breathe, the daycare called and had me come and get him. This is not unusual for him because he has done it several times before, throwing up and then getting better a few hours later. Well it was different this time and he had threw up green mucus, so I made him an appt. to see his doctor for the third time this month, and he seen a different doctor in the clinic and he diagnosised him with severe asthma and allergies. So the doctor left him on the pulmicort, and then added two more steriods, albutral every four hours, a shot in the booty, and then now a trip to the lung specialist in Nashville, TN. As if he does not already see enough doctors and take enough medicine, now this. I dont want to see my baby go through all of this!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

wow
sounds like you have your hands full. the green mucus is not cause by asthma, that is pneumonia and needs to be treated with antibiotics. but asthma does cause mucus production "in the lungs" and if he doesn't know how to properly clear his lungs, the mucus can stay in the lungs, causing pneumonia, causing him to throw up because of his gag reflex so saturdated with sputum.
