hi, i have been wih my fiance for 7 yrs
now. from the start i knew he had worries
and panic attacks but nothing ever worried
me as i knew everyone has their own
insecurities. recently its got worse and
im not sure how to help. he worries about
his health all the time, he believes he
has an illness that doctors have missed
although he has had so many check ups and
blood tests. he even booked himself for a
full checkup at a private hospital and
paid around £400 and was diagnosed with
nothing. he complains of breathing
difficulties and chest pains and pains in
his arm and legs. he ordered an online
allergy test an since he got the results
indicating he has some allergies to eggs
and caffeine he has stopped consuming
them.. im so worried. now he has decided
its best i leave him because he doesnt
want to get married and then end up in
hospital with some illness leaving me
behind to raise our future baby. i cant
help and and im getting frustrated and its
ruining us, the comments he makes worries
me and im scared too. i dont know how long
i can cope. i dont want to give up because
i love him with all my heart.

Has he seen a psychologist or
psychiatrist? Would he be open to that
idea?

He needs help as it clearly sounds like
the only thing he really has after that
medical check-up is severe health
anxieties. I had them too and it's a
vicious cycle if it goes uninterrupted.
Have him try cbt? It is remarkable for
slowing your mind down and teaching you
how to learn to live in the present and
retrain your brain to reduce anxiety if
you work on the exercises. If he does not
want to see a therapist pick up a copy of
been there, done that? Do this! By sam
obitz and start doing the tea form
exercise in it. We used this book in my
cbt group. Take care and know he can get
better if he works on the cbt exercises.
The more you work on the exercises the
more relief you get. Good luck!

I agree, CBT is very helpfull. I'm
experiencing similar anxiety and seeing a
therapist has been really helpful. The
symptoms deminish eventually. It's no fun
when you're in the middle of it but
anxiety is just your mind addressing
stressfull periods in your life. It's
really easy to fall into the trap of
negative thinking because it just spirals
forever and ever.
Hope is around the corner !

Hi there, sorry I cannot offer any insight
to the OP as I am dealing with severe
anxiety myself that is manifesting itself
in painful symptoms throughout my body.
My guess is that your fiance may be
experiencing high levels of anxiety that
are causing pains but he should perhaps
see a psychiatrist for a diagnosis.
Medications can help.
Can people please let me know what CBT is?
And what are some exercises I can do to
help treat severe anxiety?
I am walking for 1 hour daily
Meditating daily
Eating Healthy
Just started Remeron and Ativans
Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread
just more info on CBT or what it is would
be appreciated.
- Thanks

CBT stands for "Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy".It's psychotherapy based on
cognitions, assumptions, beliefs, and
behaviors.
Also the emphasis is on Not using
medications. Of course unless absolutely
necessary.
It's actually really helpful because the
therapist gives you tools to learn to
relax.

It's a therapy that's based on both
cognitive theory and behavioral theory-
the idea is that you can recognize and
change your thoughts and behaviors as a
treatment, without resorting to
medication, or along with medication as an
additional coping method.
It's one of the most proven therapies so
far for many different conditions,
especially anxiety.
