hi i am 18 i have had severe agoraphobia for the past 8 years and over the last 3 years i have been completely housebound. I get panic attacks frequently and i feel that sort of out of body feel also. I also got sever headache and dizziness with it, but i have recently started to get quite bad headache located at the back of my head and a sudden flush of anxiety its really horrid and i get dizzy. But i cant see a dr as i cannot leave the house! I work myself up into a state also which doesnt help the headaches. I start to talk myself into silly things like i have a tumour as my mum had a brain tumour. But i do think its all anxiety. Please help me

Hello and welcome to eHealth Forum!

Yes, indeed you have a tough situation if you have agoraphobia. This is often precipitated by a traumatic experience in the past. Headaches, dizziness are associated with the sudden flush of anxiety. Your symptoms are hardly that of a brain tumor.

You can try yoga and meditation at home, along with deep breathing exercises. This will help you control anxiety to a great extent. Music and aerobics are also good stress busters. Drink plenty of fluids and water (not caffeine), eat fresh fruits and vegetables and keep yourself busy throughout the day.

The usual treatment method is to go for cognitive behavioral therapy. This helps you to analyze the cause of your anxiety and teaches you to alter your thinking process. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is another option that helps take care of unconscious mental conflicts raging in you.

You need to discuss this with your doctor and get help from a psychiatrist to overcome anxiety. You need an expert’s opinion and treatment and for this if you cannot go out maybe you can arrange for a therapist to come home.
Hope this helps. Take care!
