septicemia in preterm neonatal

I gave birth at 27 weeks gestation. Baby developed sepsis. I was told she developed it inside the womb. I did not think that was true becasue I was not sick, nor was I treated for sepsis, ever. I was wondering would sepsis not either come from GBS ( Group B Strep) or the environment in which birth was given? is it possible that this baby developed it inside the womb with no harm to me?
