Hi

I have a bit of a strange problem. Pretty anything I eat or drink in the morning after waking will cause me to have to head to the toilet at breakneck speeds. Its mostly milk products that'll set it off but even water has caused problems. The time spent on the toilet usually 20 minutes of writhing in pain and calling out for the lord to take me to a better place Shocked.

Does anyone suffer from similar problems ?. I really need some sort of solution because my job is quite a workout and not having much energy reserves in the morning doesn't help.

Thanks,

How often do you have bowel movements?
Do you have bowel movements only in the mornings?
Do bowel movements at other times cause you the same pain?
Is the stool hard or soft?

1. Once a day, twice if I've eaten alot.
2. Mostly in the morning, yes.
3. Feeling uncomfortable only happens in the mornings and the stool will be very liquidy.
4. Soft/liquid in the mornings and normal in the evenings.

You can request digital rectal examination and maybe rectoscopy to find out the reason for your painful bowel movements in the morning.
You can consult some gastroenterologist about this.

ok I think I might just do that, thanks for your advice.

One thing I forgot to mention is this isn't a recent problem. Its been like this for as long as I can remember. I'm 27 now and I'm pretty sure it started when I was around 18.

Long duration of the problem can be even a greater motive to do the medical examinations that I mentioned before.

14 yr old with sensitive stomach in Morning - gag
My son has the same issue. He is 14 and this seemed to start around 10 or 11 yrs. Some mornings he is fine, other mornings he can just keep water or yogurt smoothie down. He is an athlete so this is tough as breakfast is important. Sometimes eggs make him gag in the morning...

If I go to a GI specialist I am concerned that the answer will just be meds. Not what I'm looking for. My son's uncle has the same thing and has been on meds all his life. Can anyone recommend I GI specialist (kids) in the Phila area that is well versed in multiple remedies???
Thx.
