I was wondering what happens to left over semen after coitus once the rest of the semen is drained away through gravity? I ask this from a molecular point of view.

Is the remaining semen re-absorbed into the female body and recycled or is it destroyed completly by enzymes and macrophages and excreted out of the body as a foreign substance? What kind of macrophages and enzymes are used in the degradation process?

What happens to the DNA of the sperm when it is unsuccessful in fertilization?
