Q: Self-harm while sleeping

A close friend of mine used to cut not too long ago and i have been helping him stop and he has but every once in a while he will wake up with cuts on differents parts of his body when he really doesnt even have any feeling or want to cut again. I am wondering what could be causing this or if it could be some sort of sleeping disorder. I want to find him some help because i think he needs to talk to a professional but financially he is in a tight spot. What can he do??

I'm not sure that I've heard of someone self-injuring during sleep. Have your friend been to a psychiatrist about sleeping disorders?

i used to wake up with scars on my body when i first started to try to stop hurting myself.

it was usually on my back from like "hugging" myself...... but for me it stopped after a couple months... he just needs to wait
