Do I need to declare a self-diagnosed hernia (as a pre-existing condition) when applying for health insurance?

Unless your doctor diagnoses you, you do NOT want to self-diagnose yourself with a hernia... especially when applying for health coverage. The first thing they would do would be to add that to the pre-existing condition and they would not pay any claims related to it to whatever amount of time they set (usually 12 months)
