Thank you so much for all the posts! I am a 26 year old who has been on Seasonique for about 2 years now. At first, I was adamant about getting through the crappy side effects of breast tenderness, break through bleeding, etc. I thought if I pushed through, everything would be normal eventually. But I have suffered through major mood swings, but still didn't associate it with the pill. Recently, the mood swings got worse and have started feeling depressed, foggy, tired, anxious, angry, and more. lovejesusforever said it perfectly "I cry all the time and when I'm not crying I'm angry!" I went to my doctor to ask her if all these symptoms could be related to the pill, and she said not if you've been on it for so long. She even wants to prescribe anti-depressants, which scares me a little bit. I am still considering anti-depressants, but after reading these posts, I'm going to stop taking Seasonique and see what happens. I'm hoping that things will get better. Oh and I don't think I mentioned it before but I've had some hair loss recently, not as bad as what others have mentioned, but enough to make me concerned. We thought it was associated with my hypothyroidism, but that's under control, so there's no explanation for the hair loss. I think that more doctors should read the blogs rather than going with the statistics. We may be rare and few, but we are still important. Thanks again for making me feel like I'm not crazy and I'm not alone.

Lo-Seasonique
So this is for anyone who is thinking about trying Lo-Seasonique. Don't! I'm on day 6, yes thats right only day 6...I've had horrible migraines, I can't even begin to explain how bad they were. The migraines and nausea have had me throwing up for the past 2 days now..I haven't been able to go to work, and I'm barely able to sit here and type this. But I had to get on here and see what other people where saying about this medication. To top it all off, I've somehow managed to gain 8 pds in the last 6 days as well. This is definitely going to be my last day taking this BC. Hopefully soon I will feel like my old self again. Time to go lay back down again, starting to feel super sick, and disoriented.

Good luck!

I was really nervous about taking seasonique after reading posts, but after considering my other options, decided to give it a try. Unlike many of the posts I read, I have had a great experience! I had spotting on my previous pill for a week before my period and then heavy flow and cramping. I have just finished my second month of pills and have had no side effects. I also am not losing any hair and in fact have new hair growing. I am waiting to see how my cycle goes in four weeks, but so far so good. It's been great not having a period all summer long. My doctor warned me that this pill is not for everyone, but I was told that there are women who really benefit from this pill. So far, this pill is working really well for me.

also frustrated with lo seasonique side effects. please help!
ugh. all of these posts sounds as frustrated as i am with lo seasonique. ive only been on the pill for two weeks and i am having severe mood swings, fatigue, itchiness, rash, zits, headaches, and vaginal dryness that is painful. ive also lost my once crazy libido. the only good things ive noticed are that my breasts are larger (im actually an a cup now!) and ive lost weight and my ovarian cysts have quit bothering me. but even with these things i dont think that its worth it. my mother and boyfriend told me to stick it out for a month but i dont think that i can take it anymore and i certainly dont want my hair to start falling out! im going to call my obgyn tomorrow and see what i should do about quitting this pill. im concerned about if i should try another one or not because ive also tried yaz which gave me 24/7 crying screaming panic attacks and femcon which caused me to have chestpain and headaches. after this go around im scared to keep trying new ones. any advice?

I am so glad I found this forum and know I am not CRAZY! I am 24, just married and have a wonderful 2y/o son! So I am very happy but do suffer from panic attacks. I was put on seasonique for cysts. I took them for ONE week and have had the worst week of my life. The 1st day or 2 were fine. Then everything hit the fan. On top of the typical side effects of feeling 1 month pregnant I was on edge all day everyday. I couldn't drive, work, be by myself..... I was in an out if panic attacks ALL day. And when I wasn't in an attack I was shakey and dizzy and always right about to go right into another attack. I never once thought it was the pill. I ended up in the ER bc my chest hurt from all the anxiety. They told me to stop taking it right away. Remember, everyone reacts diff to mess, but woman to woman, if you already suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, please talk to your dr first. I would never wish these feelings on anyone! Before I found out it was the pill I thought I was going crazy. That I'd snapped and I'd end up debilitated to my home out of my anxiety over having the panic attacks. I stopped as of Friday and the ER told me I should start feeling better in about 2 weeks or so. Today is the 1st day I feel some what normal. Smile Now I just have to get a my OB to discus a new way to to go about these 2 cysts.

Seasonique, Panic Attacks, Dizziness, Anxiety
I am also very glad I finally found this forum. I went on Seasonique in early May. By the middle of May, I had been to the ER twice for chest burning/pressure, dizziness, feeling faint and having high blood pressure. Between May and the end of July, I had been to the ER two more times and had several EKGs, heart enzyme test, CT Scan, MRI, and holter monitor. I told every doctor that what medication I was taking (by that time I'd added Ativan and a Atenolol for panic attacks) but no one suggested it might be a side effect of a new birth control pill. I have been shaky, dizzy, lightheaded and felt like I've been having panic attacks several times a day for the past three months. I had had isolated panic attacks before going on Seasonique, but never anything like this. A friend pointed out to me that all this craziness started right after I switched to Seasonique. I don't know for certain that Seasonique is the cause yet. I quit taking the pill last Sunday and my symptoms have not yet stopped, although they seem to be a little better. I will post again after a month with an update.

Hello, first of all if these posts are true not (false statements made up) im so sorry! Because I LOVE this pill!!! I had to quit ortho-tri because that got canceled with this new pill. And this pill helps make my skin clear. Far most, like other posts my breast are very tender and hurt a bit. Though ladies, I kid you not the pill is making my breast bigger! Great effects i would state.

This forum has been very helpful and me realize the cause of some of the problems I've been having because of this medicine. I've had a low grade for the two months that I've been taking the trial pack, which I didn't attribute to the medicine. I've been bleeding for 3 weeks straight. My breast are tender and my boyfriend has noticed a change in my mood. The constant cramping and pain are results of the medicine. I have noticed a little bit more hair shedding than normal. I can't thank you ladies enough for taking the time to post the things that are happening to you in order to help others.

i have about a week and a half till i get my period on seasonique.. this is my first time.. i have bled this smelly discharge since week 2 and it doesnt appear to be going away! i am on it to help regulate my hormones due to my cysts.. i only have one ovary now and this is a last resort before she talk to me about a hysterectomy or partial or whatever.. i only have one ovary now (i have 2 kids and my husband is fixed) and if i didnt have this bleeding and weight gain i woulndnt complain.. ( iam currently about 5'10" and im 135 lbs) im very tall and thin but this has thrown 5 pounds easily on me of water weight which i hate! my breasts kill me! i cant fit into my bra's! thank god i didnt lose any hair as some of you are saying.. whew..

good luck to everyone.. i hope it all gets worked out.. as i wish for myself. im 36 and am afraid of the "changes" that may happen to me if this doesnt get better..

SO UNHAPPY!!!!
I am taking the lo seasonique and I have to agree with most of the post on this site. I am just finishing the 2nd month of my first cycle and could not dislike it more. Aside from the 3 week period that I had the first month, I have had severe mood swings to the point that I am stopping the pill before my check up next week. It is so severe that I thought I was suffering from Postpartdum, and after doing research I determined that it is the pill. I have not experienced the hair loss but the zits are a major problem and painful. I will still discuss with my doctor to be safe and ensure that its not depression but I am sure that it is this pill.

Good luck to anyone that wants to take the chance, to me its not worth losing total emotional control.

I am 23 years old and have had problem periods since i was young. My dr suggested seasonique to have fewer periods. I am now on my 4th month and I have headaches everyday, I feel like I havent slept in 6 months and my hair is thinning. I also have been having terrible cramps and have been bleeding for almost a month! Life on this bc sucks! I dont recommend this to anyone, and if you have just started STOP and try something else

I thought I was losing my mind until I found this forum. I have never suffered from anxiety or depression before. I am constantly fighting with my family and have irrational fears and worry constantly about everything. After losing it again last night, I started researching Seasonique and have stopped taking it immediately. Not having a period but every 3 months is NOT worth the mood swings, headaches, and just not feeling myself. For anyone that has stopped taking it, how long does it seem to take for the side effects to go away?

I have never posted on a website like this before but after being on sesonique and experiencing horrible side effects, I felt the need to share them. I have been taking this pill for a little over two months now and I feel like I am going crazy. I am in a horrible mood constantly and very agitated. When I'm not feeling angry I just feel depressed and want to cry. I have never been depressed before or felt like this so I definetly think it has to do with this medication. I also have headaches almost daily and a rash on my arm. I know everybody reacts different to meds but do your research before taking this. Thank you to all the other ladies who posted because I really thought I was going crazy and it's reasurring to know there will be an end to my crazy moods soon.

I've had ENOUGH!!!
I have only been on this bc pill for a month. My GYN had me start it because I suffer from SERIOUS cramps to the point of getting sick to my stomach from the pain. I decided to try, even tho the thought of being on something that keeps you from doing what your body is naturally meant to do on a monthly basis makes me feel a little uneasy. I figured if I could be without pain, then I'd try anything... Boy was I wrong... I have had pain in my side, hair loss, cramps (yes CRAMPS, wth), bloating and HUGE pimples on my face. I have always had a clear and nice complection. I also seem to get stressed easier, cry at the drop of a dime and have been feeling insecure... I am THE biggest SECURE, Independant, do it myself person. I have never felt so depressed in my life. Even after my divorce...
So when I woke up this morning and noticed that my face is extremely swollen I decided that something had to change. Even my lips are huge... Sheesh!!!
Oh, and I work out religiously and noticed that my pants have been a little tighter each time I put them on. I weighed myself this morning and in one month, I have gained 8 lbs... No doubt its all water retention. This pill really sucks and I am not taking it anymore. I really hope that anyone who reads this STOPS as well. It really is not good for you to not bleed regularly anyway. Its what our bodies are supossed to do! Even though we HATE IT!!!!

seasonique
I have had really bad migraines. I thought I had a bad sinus infection because of pain in between my eyes and my temples. I took 15 days of anit-botics and the migraines were just as intense. They have been going on for a while now. I also have noticed loss of hair. I have always had healthy hair. I am going to stop taking them, but I am just on the third week of the first pill pack. I am going to call my doctor to see if stopping in the middle is ok. does anyone know?
