Seasonique side effects (Page 7)

I was on Seasonique for a little over 3 months until I started to notice handfull of hair loss whenever i showered and just in passing my hand through my hair ever so slightly.. well needless to say that i STOPPED as soon as i saw that it could be the pills..the hair loss has continued even though it has been now about 3 weeks since I stopped. Can anyone tell me how long after they stopped taking the pill did they start to notice less hair loss ?

My sister has been on this pill for a year and she just had the worst pain ever. She went into the bathroom at 430 and didnt notice anything weird. She went again at 5 and she had blood everywhere. It went threw jeans in a matter of seconds. They went to the er and she has blood clots coming out that are bigger than an olive. The doctors told her that this medicine can let your body build up all the stuff that you were supposed to loose in the periods you missed or had lighter than normal. She is now laying around in pain because no one told her this could happen. It took a lot out of her just to walk around for a few minutes. I dont recommend this to anyone.

I am now on my third pack of seasonique. I had two normal periods with no mood swings, but this past cycle was different. A month before my period I started habing tenderness in my breasts- like someone punched me there. Then I got my period-which was extremely heavy and painful-and went back on the bc after a week. It has officially been 3 wks since my period and I am still bleeding. Not spotting, but full on bleeding and passing clots. I also have terrible cystic acne. My gyno said to stop the bc and I have to go in for an ultrasound. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am 19 years old, and nearing the end of my first 3-month pack. I have been bleeding for over a month now, have had intense mood swings, and my breasts are too sore to touch. Additionally, I have experienced a lot of back pain. I am making a doctor's appt asap to get a different birth control.

I have been on several different birth controls in the past few years, but I have never had side effects before taking seasonique. This is TERRIBLE!

I was on LoSeasonique for about 6 weeks and the side effects were terrible. First I didn't get my period for 2 months and then it wouldn't stop bleeding for like 3 weeks. Plus all the side effects of mood swings, feeling terrible and having horrible headaches. It's been 3 months since I've been off it and my period came back once the first month and hasn't bee back since. Now I don't know if I'm pregnant or if it's still affecting my cycle. I don't know what to do or think.

My gyno started me on loseasonique back in july 2010. well, my body was all out of wack and i had break through bleeding for about 2 months and my hair started coming out really bad and the acne...OMG! I went back to gyno and was put on seasonique which is a little stronger dosage of levonorgestrel & ethinyl estradiol, well i was given a regimen to take 3 a day for 3 days,2 a day for a week and 1 a day for 2 weeks,stop and have a pill period (which lasted about 2-3days) restart normally but stop every 3 weeks to have a pill period and my body should start getting use to the medication and the 4 a year pill period should finally kick in. Well since then, my hair has stopped coming out, i have had only 1 "pill period" so far (just a tad bit of cramping) but I still have the little bit of acne situation which im hoping will subside very soon (it's not too bad but bad enough). I am praying that this will work for me, i cannot get pregnant, so this is being done to regulate or completely stop my periods because of my severe and painful heavy, heavy and i do mean heavy bleedings,severe anemia,b12 and heart disease. So, if my period can be regulated, my anemia and b12 problems could be history and as for my heart disease, it will slow down its process because my anemia has my heart working extremely overtime trying to carry very little blood thru my body.

I have been on seasonique I was on my 3rd pack... I stopped taking it because I was having some stomach pains, so I went to see my gastro doctor and he said he didnt see anything major.after I stopped taking it I been feeling bloated and tired and moody and soreness of the nipple area is this normal?? I took 4 different pregnancy test and they all came back Negative... I need some answers.

I too had to stomach pains,well it was more like period cramps but it stopped after my second pack. As for the bloating and moodiness, I havent yet to experience but the tiredness and tenderness in my breasts has been experienced. So far shockingly, my breasts did not get tender but as for the tiredness, I always feel tired so I couldnt tell you if it is from the pill or just my daily routine that is wearing me out! How long have you been off the pill? Do you feel pregnant? Have you been having "fun" unprotected? GOOD LUCK!

I am 42 years old and have been taking seasonique for 3 years.If you are new to birth control pills, you will expirience some major hormone changes, That is what a birth control pill does, alters the hormone balance and changes the progestorone and estrogen levels.This is a normal function. As you age, your body will go thru many different symptoms,sometimes with or without birth control pills. Some of us get lucky, no symptoms at all, it's all in the genetic alterations of the body. I had several similar symtoms with Seasonique or with yaz, and other similar brands, it took a while for the body to adjust, and Its the body that is adapting to the amount of hormone it is releasing. What needs to be done is to regulate the amount of doesage each individual takes, and the physisian is the person to do just that. Give time for some medications to properly balance itself, because sometimes you could be taking to much or to little.

Thank you all for these posts. I am severe anemic and my internist prescribed to help my condition. I suggested other pills and he persisted with this one. I work for a pharma company and happen to know physicians get incentives for prescibing medications to patients. Its been a week and a half and I've felt a resistance (Holy Spirit) leading me to NOT take the pills. Then my period started and I was tempted. So I google side effects of Seasonique and saw these posts. Something is clearly wrong with this medication. Its not safe. I'm saddened to hear of all of your misfortunes but I'm grateful that you all posted to share your stories because it will help others avoid your fate, I will keep you all in my prayers.

I took Seasonique for only 5 weeks a year ago. I felt great for the first 4 weeks but then on week five, I had a total melt down. I felt like I was losing my mind. I called my doctor and stopped taking the pill. Since then, every month, 3 days after my period ends, I still feel like I am going crazy. I can't get this to stop. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have tried EVERY birth control out there and none were for me. That is until I found Lo Seasonique. I absolutely love it so far. I did get migraines the first few weeks which is common when you start a new hormonal pill, your body needs time to adjust (not just one pack either). I have notices some blemishes on my chest and face, but nothing that would make me stop taking this pill. I am actually on medication due to high androgens and surprisingly this pill has not made my hair thin, actually noticing more hair growth on my head. I have not had any breakthrough bleeding or any problems. I was put on this pill to limit my cycles and help prevent ovarian cysts. I was still getting cysts and ovulating on all other pills. I had a very large melon sized cyst removed from my right ovary last year and this year they ended up having to remove the entire right ovary. So far so good on this new pill and I feel like a new person! I dont get cramps all month like I used to and no bloating! Did notice I went up a cup size in my bra however!

Im almost done a pack of seasonique and im just starting to notice significant hair loss in one spot of my head...im scared. Anyone that has had this problem,does the hair eventually grow back?

I almost finished my 3 month pack but I have recently stopped taking this pill. Ever since I started taking seasonique, I have been bleeding every day and I have gained probably fifteen pounds and now I'm fatter than I've ever been before. I always gain a little in the winter but not nearly this much. This pill is so not worth it, and I'd rather have a normal period instead of bleeding every day for three months.

Try Beyaz by Bayer it helps alleviate these PMS-like symptons with no weight gain according to these posts:
. I have used the predecessor Yasmin and it helps with these symptoms. The new version seems to have slightly lower dose of estrogen.
