I started Seasonique @ the end of Nov 2008. I am now halfway through the first month of my second 3 month pack (so 4 mos on the pill).

I am starting to feel as if it was the first month all over again. I am nauseated and my breasts are killing me. Unlike the first month I am experiencing cramping. Now I have been through breakthrough bleeding back in Jan and this is different (those cramps were more in my lower back and the flow was quite heavy - the doc said that everything was fine).

I have been cramping for 3 days, but there is no bleeding.

I was jus wondering if anyone else has had this happened them?

-also just a side note when it was time for the placebo pills my period was just 1 day and it actually happened the friday before the sunday I was to start the "yellow" pills. (that was roughly 2-3 weeks ago).

Especially eHealthy
It may just be that you're having a bad month. Not every month will be identical. I've had "normal" periods, light periods, bloating, cramping, and I took a pill for 3 years.

SEASONIQUE
Here's my advice...
stop taking seasonique NOW!!!!
I took seasonique for almost two years. I noticed my hair shedding a little bit but I didn't think too much about it because I have thick, curly hair. Then clumps started falling out. Now I have bald spots on my head. Do some research, this is a side effect of the birth control. I also suffered severe cysts which exploded, several infections and cramping, bloating, pain and discomfort while I took seasonique. Find an alternative birth control before you're bald too.

OMG I am definitely going to stop taking this now. I don't even have sex that much. I didn't know all this could happen!! I just wanted to skip periods. My gyno actually suggested it.

Seasonique Warning! Discuss with your doctor first!
Please listen to me everyone! I normally do not post messages regarding bad medication experiences, because each person reacts differently, but this is important. I have been on many birth control pill since I was 17 (I am 25 now). I asked my obgyn to put me on Seasonique because I was attracted to the four a year periods. I could not have made a worst choice! I used one pack completely (3 month supply) and suffered severe side effects. I developed multiple cystic-like zits on my jaw line that required anti-histamine shots from my Dermatologist. In addition to my face blemishes, I also developed severe acne on my back and chest.

The most severe problem I experienced was hair loss and hair thinning. Trust me, it is very noticeable. After stopping the pill, I continued to lose hair at the same rate. This undoubtedly has caused me incredible emotional problems. I have researched and found this may be due to high level of androgens in the pills. I am not a doctor, but I would bring this up with one if you are even slightly considering this pill.

To top off this list, this pill caused me the most intense mood swings, depression, and bloating that I have ever encountered with a birth control pill. My family, boyfriend, and co-workers all noted my extreme change.

I am not telling you completely forgo trying Seasonique even though I would absolutely if I got a redo. What I am saying is that if you want to try this pill, do your research and absolutely make your doctor discuss any and all side effects.

Seasonique and Hair Loss
I am a twenty five year old female and I have recently (last Five Months) noticed my hair becoming thinner and thinner. It is most noticeable around my frontal hairline as that is the thinnest part to begin with. However, there is all over a decrease in the thickness of my once very thick wavy hair. I took Seasonique from March 2008 to June 2008 ( a total of ninety days) and bled every single day. After three month trial, i switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen and have had no noticeable side effects.

I am concerned that the Seasonique (because of it androgenic properties) may have spurred some hair loss. I am very scared that this may be permanent and that it will continue at the same rate.
Has anyone had this experience? Did your hair thinning cease or did your hair grow back? I am so scared that it will continue that I will just be happy if it stops. I wanted to do as much research before I visit my physician, as of this point I am getting desperate.

when did you stop?
When you decided to stop taking Seasonique, did you continue your pack, jump to the yellow pills, or simply stop taking it all together?

I have noticed similar symptoms and was going to talk to my gyno about it, but after reading all this, I just want to stop now!

My DHEAS levels are low and Liver Enzymes high
I started taking Seasonique 4 months ago. I am extremely careful about everything I put in my body; organic when ever possible, very little dairy or meet in my diet, and I exercise atleast 3xweek. I get blood work done every year, every year it comes back perfect and above the healthy average. Now my DHEAS is low (function of the adrenal 'hormone' ) and my liver enzymes are elevated. I cannot help but wonder if it is from this pill. I want to get off of it now. Has anyone else had this happen?

Well ive only been on Seasonique for a month a one week. Ever since the second week ive had this VERY painful, aching... BAD BAD head ache. I did think anything of it but this past week its gotten to the point were im taking 6 excedrin a day and STILL have my headache! For the past 5 weeks i have been so "on edge" and moody towards my family and my boyfriend mostly... Then 3 days ago these weird nose bleeds started happening.... && to top it off i have noticed more hair in the shower.... My findings from researching the web was this website... This med sounds no good at all! Thank you I'm going to stop taking this med TODAY! The other things people wrote along with my own story is very scary and i cant believe it!

Mental Anyone?
I'm like, 6 weeks into seasonique. I don't think i have ever been this mental in my whole life. i cry at nothing, or everything, or anything....i'm normally a pretty logical thinker, and that has disappeared. Granted, i'm getting married in 6 weeks, so planning a wedding is stressful. and i'm my maid of honors maid of honor in 8 days. so there is a LOT of stress here. but i'm beginning to wonder if my mental case is more than just stress. has anyone else felt like they're going bat sh*t crazy while on this pill?

Re mental anyone
I have only been taking the pill for about 6 weeks also and I have noticed a drastic change in my mood, my overall attitude has changed to the point that I've been missing work. I have had severe headaches, no energy, or desire to do anything. I'd say the depression side effect is a big YES. I have also been very achy. Thank god I haven't had the nose bleeds or the hair loss. I'm not taking the pill today and going to my ob tomorrow.

On the pill
I have been on seasonique for about a month and a half. I have had severe itching, headaches, bleeding for about 3 of the weeks. The bleeding never quits.. its like im shedding it. I have tried so many types of bc and just can't seem to find one! My moodiness and fatigue are pretty bad as well! This pill is a good idea as far as 4 periods a year but has side effects that just make it hell to take!

Mental 101 Update
So i went to see my gyno not long after my first posting from losing my mind. it's been about 2 weeks? She had me jump right to the yellow pills at the end and switched me to ortho-tricyclen & it is working MUCH better! she said that sometimes the kind of progesterone (i think is the hormome she said) doesn't react well with your body's own hormone make up. ever since i've been off i've been back to my old self! thank goodness!! crazy mood swings are gone, the headache is gone, etc. so my advice to everyone having problems since going on seasonique, talk to your doctor!

Thank Goodness I'm not the only one!
I am on my last pack of the 3 pack trial of Seasonique and I am miserable! I have never been on any kind of Birth control before and my GYN recommended it. I have basically been spotting every day for the last month and a half. I was so moody, I was considering breaking up with my boyfriend and moving out of town...then i realized I wasn't myself. I'm so glad to find out i'm not alone. The hair thinning part freaks me out- so i'll see if my Gyn will recommend another kind...any suggestions? Ortho-Tricyclein is what i seem to hear the most...

I have been taking seasonique since december 2008. When I went back after the trial I told my gyno i started to have migraines. She told me she really didn't think it was the BC. Nothing was done at the appointment concerning my migraines. A few weeks passed and my migraines were becoming more frequent and painful. I went back and she still insists it has nothing to do with the BC and prescribed me migraine medication. After reading everyone else's comments I am 100% sure my migraines are because of the Seasonique. The only sympton I am having is the migraines, but those are painful enough to switch to another BC. I had a IUD before this for three years and still had two years left on it and that somehow pushed out of my uterus and caused me to have surgery to remove it from my abdomen. Hopefully I can find some other BC that will not cause any problems!!!

Thinking about switching from OrthTri Cyclen Lo to Lo Seasonique
Wow!! thanks for the post.. i was seriously considering switching from my ortho tri cyclen lo to Lo seasonique.. to have less periods.. I HATE having a period!! but i have been reading and read about the androgenic part of it and that was what made me look more into it and after reading the posts.. i think i will just have to stick it out and stick with ortho tri-cyclen lo..does anyone know if the effects of starting a new ortho pack instead of taking the placebo pills will make you skip your period??? kind of the same concept for seasonique?? anyone know?? i mean is it absolutely neccessary to have to have a period every month??

I have been taking it for more than a year and I have been suffering from intense migraines - I have to take imitrex by the ton. I would like to know, did anyone stop the pills or switched to a different pill and got rid of migraines/headaches? Also, I had perfect skin my whole life, and now my face has zits, and I also had an intense rash once.

Crazy too!
I'm so glad I read these posts. I've been on seasonique for almost 3 months now (2 weeks away from the yellow pills) I cry all the time and when I'm not crying I'm angry! I broke up with my boyfriend because I thought he was driving me crazy! The things I used to find cute or attractive about him were making me angry. I thought I was losing my mind! I didn't realize how much hormones can affect you. Sorry to those who's had worse things than mood swings. I pray you'll get better and the hair will grow back quickly. Thank you all and may God bless you more than you can possibly imagine!

I am a 23 year old female that has been dealing with major hormonal imbalances since I was 20. I had been on Seasonique for three months and in that time period I gained 10 pounds a month and once I was off continued gaining about 10 a month. 8 months after being off of the BC I went into the doctor realizing this wasnt me just eating unhealthy. He prescribed me Wellbutrin and I stopped gaining. I was on that for a couple months and he said that should kick start my hormones. Needless to say it barley did. I started going to a Natural doctor and she told me my adrenals were shot and I had too much sugar in my urine. She put me on vitamins and a diet of no sugars of any kind and no carbs. I also was faithful and still faithful at the gym. I started losing weight for awhile. I then became pregnant and my hormones seemed to be doing so much better. I am three months postpartum and I can tell they are still screwed. I am breast feeding and eating healthy and still GAINING. WHAT?!! I am even training for a sprint triathlon. I am going in on Wed. to see a hormone specialist and am trying to arm myself with as much info as possible. My testosterone at the beginning was 11 with low estrogen and low but normal thyroid. Is there hope to get better?! I feel so defeated. HELP!!!
