Two days ago, I was fooling around with my boyfriend and he accidentally scratched me just above my vagina. It is painful and extremely uncomfortable to move around and urinate. I am training for a marathon and am afraid my running program will be disrupted if the pain continues. I don't have insurance and really don't want to go the PP if this is something that will fix itself. Is there anything I can buy over the counter to ease the discomfort? Is vaseline or A&D ointment safe? How long do scratches generally take to heal in such a sensitive place? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

IT sounds as if you're experiencing skin damage to the vulva. The vulva is the external female genitalia. It includes the "lips" or folds of skin (labia), clitoris, and the openings to the urethra and vagina. Topical licorice extract gel has been shown to be effective in the treatment of atopic dermatitis..so you might try to apply licorice to the area. Salve cream with bee propolis also contains lots of healing components for the skin. Barring that, you might want to go without underwear to promote increased ventilation wither during the nighttime or, if possible, during the day.
