Scoliosis? Posted: 08-08-08 09:10am
I have been having severe neck and upper
back pain for a few months. I had the
extra money yesterday so I decided to go
to the chiropractor for xrays and
treatment.
When I looked at the xrays, the
chiropractor pointed out that my upper
back (between my shoulderblades) curved to
the right, looked like an 'S'.
My neck, she pointed out, was also curved
to the right like a 'C'. She also
continued that instead of bending forward,
that my neck was bending backward.
Don't the curves indicate scoliosis? Do I
have the right to take those xrays the
chiropractor took and take them to a
osteo-doctor or would I have to pay for
more xrays?
The chiropractor didn't mention scoliosis,
but I think it might be...

Hello Marianne,
You paid for the x-rays, they are yours.
The doctors that I have gone to have been
very nice and have given the x-rays to me.
I keep all such things in my file.
SOOooo do take your x-rays to a
osteo-doctor. Also, may I suggest that
you also take them to the best spinal
surgeon that is in your area and get
his/her advice.
Take care. Hope all goes well. Let us
know how things go for you.

what your chiropractor described is
scoliosis, for various reasons, medical
professionals sometimes do not describe
minor curvature problems as scoliosis, one
reason being that scoliosis is seen as a
gross deformity ( meaning when the curves
are really severe) and in some medical
circles minor scoliosis is seen as an
harmless condition. Others argue that it
is a serious condition.
