Hello,
I have suffered with anxiety and sciatic nerve pain running down the left leg. Everytime i have a bowel movement i can feel the nerve being pressed on and the muscles start to spasm. I am on celexa 40 mg now for 24 days. I am still not seeing relief. Still painful all the way to the foot and extremely shaky. makes me nervous and emotional. I don't think that the bowel is letting all of the stool come out as the spasms shut this process down. could you please advise me which direction to go?
Neurologist? back specialist? pain management? I am at a loss.
thanks,
charlotte

When my siatic nerve was acting up I had the same problem with bowel movements.

Remember that this pain is caused when the siatic nerve is inflammed (for many people)...

You may want to see a neurologist first and take it from there if a doctor is the way you want to go.

Certain foods cause inflammation in the body, nerves included. If you are up to it, try the anti-inflammatory diet...

Hi Charlotte,

I came across this forum while searching for Celexa and Sciatic Nerve problems. I too was on Celexa for approximately 10 years. My doctor just took me off, because i had gain too much weight. Now, i am currently taking 50 of Zoloft and it made a big difference, but i noticed that while on Celexa i had a shooting pain on my left leg, and just recently the doctors diagosed me with a Sciatic Nerve problem. Did you have sciatic nerve problem prior to Celexa, or did happen while being on the medication. I thinking maybe it could be this medication is what causing it? thanks, cj
