My partner went of his meds for 4 months and had to be put into hospital because he got so sick, he was let out and his doctor has put him back on his meds(10mg zyprexa) once a day and he seemed to respond a bit at first but its been three weeks since hes been back on them and he seems to be regressing again, he seems aggravated all the time, he displays ocd, he paces around, doestnt really talk unless you ask him something, he swears at me if i ask him anything , i found he wrote an entry in his diary today i quote( sheila has told me i didnt let her have a coffee)? this never happened! HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR HIS MEDS TO START WORKING? I feel like i am my wits end, i am so worried about him. He thinks he is ok!He has been on his meds for about 4 weeks maybe. PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you watching him take his medication? It could be possible that he thinks he is okay because he's not taking the pills.

Some ideas could be:
- speak with his doctor and see how he's reacted in the past with his medications. I'm not sure how long you have been with him, so you may not know how he reacts, but his doctor will have it on file.
- check out side effects for Zyprexa (OCD/aggravation could be a side effect)

I do know that my fiancee took almost a month to get settled into his medications (he took about a three year break from them thinking he was "okay").

Oh, and do you know why he went off of the medication in the first place? Finding a new one--and soon--would be a good idea. He may not be happy with the side effects, whatever they are, and is avoiding taking the medication because of that.

Let his doctor know how he is doing. A medication adjustment may be needed. He does not sound stable. Agitation is not a side effect of zyprexa. He may need a dose adjustment or another medication added. His doctor needs to know what is happening so call and tell him. All the best.
