I have never been diagnosed for anything
because I've never told anyone. I tend to
keep these things to myself.
However, it's starting to get to me and I
would like some advice/answers.
I "know" many people who apparently don't
exist. However, they exist to me. Only
thing is, I can't exactly "see" or "hear"
them. It's really complicated to explain,
but I feel that without a doubt they are
there, and I do have discussions with
them. I'll try to explain more in depth if
the question is raised. I don't really
want to get rid of them either, since most
I consider my friends.
I don't feel ready to tell my parents or
friends, even though I've been
experiencing this for about 13 years.
I don't believe it's schizophrenia, since
I can't see them dead on. Occasionally I
feel like I may be seeing them out of the
corner of my eye, but never more than
that. When they talk, it's more like a
telepathy sort of thing, I can't hear them
aloud - often. Sometimes, I I'll have
heard someone say something but only like
one or two words at a time. I have heard
of Schizotypal which seems to apply to me
more, but, I don't know, I'm not a
professional and can't diagnose myself
with anything.
I would just like some help with this
before I tell anyone anything which I'm
planning to do, because things are getting
more complicated with these "people" I
know.
Now it's getting hard since I'm still just
a teen and have to go through high school
and with the things/problems that the
"people" only I know have...
If it helps:
I have never taken any drugs
I have never had an alcoholic drink
My mom's aunt is schizophrenic
Until I was about 3, my mom was abused and
only on occasion would I get abuse as
well, I remember him once trying to give
me chewing tobacco that I spat out because
it burned...
I've never met my biological father, so I
don't know if he or any of his relatives
have any disorders

You need to tell your mom what is
happening with you. Based on family
history and the symptoms you describe it
is highly suspect that you are suffering
with a mental health disorder. Childhood
onset of mental disorders is less common
than adult onset but it still occurs. This
is particularly so in families with a
history of mental health disorders. These
symptoms will not subside on their own.
Frequently they only become worse if left
untreated.
Write down what you experience. Show you
mom. Ask for help.
Schizophrenia and mood disorders can
produce hallucinations in some people.
Actually seeing the people is not the only
criteria for determining if the people are
hallucinatory in origin. Auditory
hallucinations are common events in mood
disorders and schizophrenia.
I can't stress enough the need to get some
medical attention for this.
Let me know if you have more questions. I
can try to answer them. Let us know how
you are!

Thanks for the concern.
I finally did tell my mom, she took it
fairly well...
a little strangely I may say...
She basically thinks that I "connect" with
astral beings or something.......
So, I guess the conversation had me ending
up a little more flustered than her.
Heh.
We haven't decided yet to tell anyone else
or to go see someone yet, but I imagine in
the future we will - although I wouldn't
be surprised if she decided I needed to go
see a fortune teller or something. I find
it completely strange that she took it
this way, because she's never shown an
interest in the "supernatural"
and I don't believe that it's
"supernatural"
lol

It could be that she's in denial/ trying
to justify-
since she hasn't lived with it like you
have, she might be reluctant to think it's
a serious problem and try to explain it
some other way.
But it is a serious problem- maybe not
yet, but it might get to the point where
it becomes more problematic.
If she doesn't seek help for you, maybe a
counselor or something?

That's true, I suppose it could be
possible that she's in denial
it's just strange to think so because she
otherwise seemed quite accepting of it.
How exactly would I go about talking to a
counselor?
A school counselor? Or someone else?
Like I said, I can't actually "see" them,
so it seems strange to talk about it...
