A third degree burn to the face of your
infant? You need to seek medical help
immediately! Deep burns (called
full-thickness burns) may need to be
treated with skin grafts, where healthy
skin is taken from another part of the
body and surgically placed over the burn
wound to help the area heal.

Any time you burn a child like this you
need to take him to the ER immediately.
Sometimes it's not just the skin that can
be damaged, but the nerve endings as well,
as in a 3rd degree burn. He will need
immediate medical attention to minimize
complications and reduce the amount of
damage. For a third degree burn, I don't
think there is anything that you can do
other than plastic surgery or skin
grafting, but I am also unsure if that
would work because of the nerve damage
involved. You would have to see a plastic
surgeon to consider your options.
Please do not use hot items around your
children to avoid things like this
happening in the future.
