Yesterday I received a scald wound on my
finger, leaving a big blister similar to

pedia.org/wiki/Image:Scaldburn.jpg. I
ran in under cold water whenever i felt
pain, and had ice to it (which i now know
i shouldnt have done). Anyway, my dad is a
doctor so he sterilized some tools and
popped my blister. Put anti-biotics on it
and gave me a band-aid.
Now I want to know, what should I do to
improve the healing process? My finger
isnt in pain, but it irritates me. Also,
fluids are still leaving my finger after
20 or so hours. Thanks for the help.

Hi there
Ouch - I hate blisters, now your dad has
popped it, keep it clean, and let it have
air (no plasters), to let the wound
'breath' is the best thing ..
You still have fluid coming out of it, cos
it's the natural healing process of your
body, the fluid is normal, and air will
help it dry up.
As your Dad is a doctor, ask him more
questions about it.
But keep us informed of any problems or
questions you would like to ask.

the first thing that you learn if first
aid class is to never pop a blister. if
its a burn you just run it under cool
water. you can put aloe vera on it or pour
white vinegar on it it will take the burn
out.

It took over a year for one of my scars
from a bad burn to go away. Now I can't
see it at all. Just give it time.
