Rubber band ligation (Page 1)

hi i just had rubber band ligation yesterday, just want to share experience

I've had rhoids for years, so mine is not painful or bleeding. i went to see 2 specialist. one says i could live with it, or do PPH. he said with rubber band ligation, it might come back 2 or 3 years' time.

then another specialist at another hospital told me, I'm 30, better to do non-surgical treatment, and with rubber band ligation not necessarily the rhoids will re-develop again. even with PPH, rhoids may develop again. So I decided to listen to the latter.

About the procedure

I lie down on the bed sideways, the doc clean it first with something (i couldn't watch), then did the rubber thing, it was over in 1 minute. No pain, not as bad as I thought.

My doc warn me about the feeling of wanting to !**@!, 1 hour or whole evening. He wasn't kidding. It was agony. For many hours, I just feel like want to !**@!, but there's no !**@!. There's no pain, but it is worse than pain. I couldn't sleep well. But when I wake up the next day (this morning), it doesn't feel so bad now. So my advice is, whomever wanting to do this, make sure you eat nutritious food, drink plenty water then take sleeping pills, so you don't have to go through the agony.

Doc said I have stage 2/3 rhoids, maybe will drop off in 1 week. I'm just scared that it won't drop off, are there any cases of persons doing rubber band ligation but the rhoids doesn't drop ?

Rubber Band Ligation
I got the treament two day ago. Last night I felt so painful of my anal for about half an hour. But now, I feel better. In addition, I still can urine after the treament but not as easily as before. So do I need to see the doctor again? Thanks.

Rubber Band Ligation Of Internal Hemorrhoids
Had this surgery done at the same time I had a colonoscopy. Was pretty uncomfortable for about 16 hours. Had two medium size internal hemorrhoids banded. Discomfort was relieved by warm sit baths which I used about 3 times at about 10 minutes each time. My Doctor also allowed me to take up to 600 mg daily of Ibuprofen which helped a lot too - more than 600 mg daily can cause bleeding problems. Pain, pressure and difficult urination were all pretty much gone after 16 hours from time of banding. I consider this a pretty easy procedure to deal with and well worth the short time of discomfort for relief it has brought me. I am a 52 year old male.

I had outpatient surgery to remove internal and external hemorrhoids 3 months ago and have been in pure pain ever since. I could not drive or sit for 8 weeks. It was the most painful experience of my life. Yesterday I had the rubber banding done to remove 1 external one that got to be twice the size it originally was. I have not been able to go to the bathroom ever since the banding and have to take pain pills every four hours. The rubber banding is very tight and has a pinching feeling and now the hemorrhoid is like a marble. I hope it falls off easily.......???

Hey there just read your post from 2010. How was the outcome of your band in. I just had it done 5 days ago and I'm going through hell. No signs of improvement yet. How long did it take to get to normal. Hope you get this message and can help me out with something positive. Thank you Joe from Ny

Hemorroidal rubber banding
I am a 65 year old male in good condition. I had a hemorroidectomy about 15 years ago and it was brutal. I had the first "large" hem banded today (1.5 hours ago)using the "CRH O'Regan System". The discomfort level was pretty intense in the first hour. Better now. No pain, just feel like something large is in there needing to come out. I will continue this dialog over the next week. I am scheduled for the second banding in 2 weeks. We'll see.

I decided to let some time go by before adding to this post. I've had a total of 3 bands; all within a 1 1/2 month period. The first (and oddly) the third were the most uncomfortable. After the third the doc said there was a 95% chance I would have no further need for his services (slight chance of a fourth hem). For several months it was magic. No longer any symptoms of hems. We went to DLand this summer and with all the walking, I did have a few problems - none serious. Since then, no real issues. I'll probably go back and have the doc take a quick look to see if there are any remaining issues. Overall score (1-5): 4.5.

I had a single painful internal hemorrhoid which the Doctor treated with 2 bands at the same time. I had terrible pain for about 2 hours. I did not feel when it fell off but I had the feeling that the anal opening had been tighter resulting in some pain whenever there was a bowel movement. It's been almost one year since but the wound keeps bleeding a little when I have an occasional constipation. Anybody having the same experience?

Told my doctor and he said that one of the bands didn't take andwill have to do it again.what gets me is that he didn't tell me this after the procedure. I am going to look for another doctor.

I didn't have a bad experience with this procedure. It felt sore the first day and was a lot better the next. It is highly beneficial if your doctor recommends it. Good luck!

Not a bad experience either. Just know in advance that you'll be sore and mildly uncomfortable for 2 days.

Please let me know how your surgery went. I have had large internal hems for 3 years. 2 years ago had IRC done twice and ended up in the hospital with excess bleeding and left me with external hemorrhoids and skin tags.
Recently saw new doc. Did Sigmoid. I have at least 6 large internal hems. Prolapse and external hems.
He said I don't want surgery and is going to try to use new banding CHR O'Regan procedure. Can only do 1 at a time and will be at least 3 bands per large hem.
He thinks this will lessen the externals so I won't need surgery. Right now it takes about 10 minutes to clean all around my Orangutang Butt after every BM.
I read about new harmonic scalpel surgery that shows good results and all done at one time. Recovery about 3 months.
I am going to do 1 band to try it. But, if it doesn't work, I either deal with all the bleeding and frustration or go for surgery.
Please let me know how you made out. I am a 50 year old active female. Thank you.

Owe my bum
Hi, I'm 38 yr old female. Have the same rhoid for 10 yrs since being pregnant with my son that has never really gone away. Finally decided that i had enough so I had 1 band today. I'm so sore down there like throbbing pain. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being excruciating, I'm at about a 5. There's just this pressure like I have to go to the bathroom and then nothing happens. Doc said this is normal and gave me Tylenol with codeine. About to take that, and hopefully will feel ok in the morning. This sucks but way better than surgery.

3 hemorrhoid 2 bands
30 yo male. I unknowingly developed 3 hems during my recovery from acl (knee) surgery. Probably from when I was drugged out of my mind and didn't know when to relax. Anyway, after discovering blood going to the restroom I visited a specialist. He diagnosed three of them and then banded the largest and had me come back in a month to gauge it's effectiveness. Went today for the second visit and two gone, last one banded. Went through the same experiences as last time. Before leaving the doctor's office I used the restroom and did my business. I'd say it's important to listen to your body afterwards. The experience was no less uncomfortable the second time and it seems I still have the same, consistent "pain" everyone else has. It we away after two days and don't expect to sleep much. When you do your body will wake you regularly and you'll head straight for your new favorite place. I recommend you relax, breath and walk around every once around as that seems to help. I use a sick day for my office job the day of the procedure and eat healthy (fruits will help!). After two two days I woke up and I was at about 8/10 on a comfort scale but expect to hover around 5/10 the first couple days. Oh and your senses are basically way over stimulated so so anything you can do to mitigate this helps (take off your glasses, dark room, comfortable temperature, and relaxing/no sounds). Hope this helps someone. Good luck everybody.

42 y.o. male just had stage 1 hemmorhoid banded today. Don't know if it can be called pain as much as it is tightness in the rear and a "pinching" feeling. Got some extra strength ibuprofen and a prescription for suppositories 2x a day. Feels better when I walk around. Supposed to go back in 4 weeks. Will post again in a day or two for anyone that cares to read.
