i was in a motorbike crash. a guy done a uturn never saw me and we collided i was doing 45kph. i slide up my petroltank my hips get cought on the handel bars and i smack off the side of his car and roll off he drives for a couple of feet and i end up under his car. i was nocked out for a good bit of time not sure how long. spent two weeks in hospital. had CT scan MRI and xrays. lots of bruising and was told i had globalised severe soft tissue injuries. since then i was told i might have a uretal stricture. i was also treated for trigger finger and had cortisone injections. i am taking 2 kapake 4 times a day, 2 100ml zydol sr and tramadol 2x2 per day. im still in lots of pain evan on the high dose of pain killers and get little sleep im sure i have insomnia since the accident. anyway im wondering if anyone has had an MRI and the results were wrong. before the crash i was very active jogging 2/3 times a week and also working as a chef. my life has almost stopped because of this. the pain in my lower back is worse and alot of pain still so long ofter. i am now out of work and obiously not jogging. am i entitelld to a second opinnion or maby somthing might show up on an MRI that they missed.
desperatly seeking answers

Mri to me can be wrong
Hi, my name is ramset on the internet. I hurt my back on 8-7-2008 at work and have had 2 mri, emg and xrays. The Dr. tells me I have mild damaged nerves. Get back to work. I walk with a cane because of weakness in the legs and dont even mention the pain I have when I walk. Of course I do not work right now but will when they fix me. Can mri be wrong. well damaged nerves are caused by something that isnt showimg up on the mri. good luck

Its possible that your MRI is wrong but its also possible that the MRI turned up something minor and the doctors are not telling you about it i suggest you politely request copies of your reports. Also MRIs are not foolproof and they can sometimes fail to pick up relevant problems.

When was your accident after the trauma you have suffered it may take some time for your symptoms to settle down the doctors may actually be right and your symptoms could resolve in time.

there are other conditions such as mechanical dysfunction and abnormal curvature of the spine that can cause pain. Abnormal curvature can be seen on x rays but doctors often downplay there significance.

Yes you are entitled to a second opinion but it could be the same as the first but i would still seek one if i were you.

Good luck nosleep

i think i can see the light at the end of tunnel
ok a lot has happend since i last typed. to cut a long story short, treatment i was receving was poor to say the least. got mri and ct films and also mri report. mri only reports on lumbar spine but in mri film its obvious to see a bulge between T10/T11. takes up quater of spinal canal. also ct scan shows axel view troughout body and in the same area there is abvious compression. so i went to a private consultant and he agrees there is bulge and he has orderd new mri of thoracic and cervic spine and also more detailed lumbar spine mri's. from doing my own reserch i have found that t/spine and lumbay spine problems can be simmelar and often T/spine problems go undiognosed. about 1.5% of spinal injuries are in T/spine. also been diagnosed with uretal stricyure, having an internal uretherothomy on the 11th of may. will keep u posted as i find out more.
cheers all
