My boyfriend and I have sex very frequently. We were both tested for STDs before we began having sex. I went on the pill about two months ago and my second time having my period while on it, there is a rotten smell (Like something dead and rotting) coming from my vagina once it was finished. It makes me gag! I showered and it still reeks! HELP!

i have the same problem, but i'm not on any type of birth control. me and my boyfriend live together so obviously, we have sex frequently. this smell makes me gag, but he says it doesn't matter to him because he loves me so he can put the smell aside. and it's still there even after i shower and body spray doesn't really cover it up. what should i do?

I am having the same problem. I am also on birth control pill (Microgynon30) and have been for the past 5 years.

The 'rotten' smell coming from my vagina started about 8 months ago but I was jus too embarrassed to go to the doctors about it. Sometimes it would completely disappear so in a way I thouht it couldn't be anything serious. Well it's back again!

I had a shower yesterday morning and then went straight to the gym, as soon as I get in the gym I stretch... I was stretching my legs and I got a really bad wiff of myself (the rotten smell). It really upset me, 1) becausee I had only just had a shower and the smell had come back SO quickly after a thorough wash and 2) because I was very concious of the people around me smelling it. It was that strong, I can bet that someone standing 1 - 2 feet away from me yesterday in the gym would have smelt it.

I have an appointment with my Doctor for next Thursday to ask what this smell is. Hopefully it will be something simple, maybe a yeast infection?

I forgot I made a post here and didn't update. I got an email telling me about a new reply to the thread.

Anyway, I did go to the doctors in the end to discuss the 'smell'. She took a swab, the test results came back clear. No infections/problems.

She prescribed me some antibiotics anyway, and it did clear the problem up! I haven't had the 'rotten smell' for about a month now!

Guys, ever try alternative medicine? Chinese herbs have saved my life in numerous situations where 'technological advances' in western medicine haven't.

I had an infection in the vagina, it didn't stink but it itched me crazy. The doctor gave me something, and it worsened.
I read somewhere that Muslim soldiers used to carry honey with them and it helped the wounds heal. And therefore no limbs were amputated after the battle.
So this is what I did: with a surgical syringe (minus needle)I injected honey into my vagina. I did this twice, and the infection was zapped completely.

more than likely it is caused by Bacterial Vaginitis aka BV. this occurs when there is a change in the pH of your vaginal fluids. ladies, tell ur gyno's about it. they will be able to help!

Mine has come back again. The antibiotics seemed to help. Although the swab my doctor took came back as normal, there were NO infections (she didn't want to prescribe me the antibiotics because she couldn't find anything wrong, but I insisted on having them).

Anyway, my 'smell' has come back within the last week. The only thing I can associate it with is stress. I have been very stressed lately and if I think back, when it went away I was generally feeling better in myself... and when I had the smell the lastime I was feelng very down and stressed. So basically, I am wondering if mine comes on in times of depression and stress (I suffer with depression)

BV normally causes a fishy odour, not a 'rotten' smell. I actually suggested this to my doctor and she frowned and said no. BV also normally comes with itching too... I do not have any fish odour nor do I have itching. So to anyone who is noticing a fishy odour along with the rotten smell and some itching, I believe you are could have BV... and you can buy treatment over the counter.

I don't know what mine is, like I said the doctor said I was clear of infection. I think it's just something I'll have to put up with at certain times.
