I just found out today that I have been diagnosed through blood test for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. It started 4 months ago when I started having these vivid dream almost like I was taking malaria pills. I was exhausted from not gaining the correct level of sleep. After that I began to have migraines which even medicine would not help. I went to the doctor in hopes that he could help. He suggested a sleep study which I didn’t really see as a solution. The next thing I began to feel was joint pains which only grew worse with the weather. After some time of feeling like I had the flu 24/7 and being so tired I needed coffee everyday, I decided it was time to go back to the doctor. About a week ago he ran blood work for many different things that matched the symptoms. Over the past week I began having really bad lower back pains and minor chest pains about once a day.

I talked to the doctor today and he gave me a referral to a cardio. He also placed me on antibiotics for a month along with giving me a shot of antibiotics. So this brings me to the scared part... I have had this for months now and everywhere I read it says that it can have long term effects and end in possible fatality. I also read that 70% of all cases end up in the hospital. Do I need to be worried? Should I be going to a hospital? I mean I have no clue what to do and I don’t want this to get worse. Or will I just be okay with antibiotics?

AHA same here. I went to a doc for months and told him I thought I had a tick borne disease. He kept telling me it was allergies. Doctors kept putting me on antibiotics but it was the wrong kind so it was just staving off the disease. I finally found a doctor that would diagnose last month. I was on a trip to see my kids and ended up in the hospital for a few days. I am home now but my back is awful. Had a residual condition from Shingles in 03 and it has flared up in a horrible way. Also, I tire very easily. Still have the feeling like there's water in my left ear. I wonder if there is any help. I'm going to call the infectious disease specialist that had my case in the hospital and see what he suggests. I'm finding some relief when I exercise in the pool but now my ankles hurt a lot.
