I stupidly smoked for 13 years only 5 to 7 a pack a day or more. My question is what are my risks percentage wise for getting lung cancer in my life?

Hi dfowler,

There's no quick answer to your question. You'll have to do a little research on your own...and there are some great resources out there for you. Check out the following CDC site and the Surgeon General's 2006 report.

I would say that you should check your lungs once every 6 months or 4 months even. If you were ever to get cancer, your lungs are a good target. Even 20 years from now, you could get lung cancer. Smoking as you did, might be the cause.

Your lungs have been exposed to a great risk. Your chances? No one can tell you for sure. But even you know yourself, they are not good. Keep a close eye on your lungs.

Good luck
