Hi,I've been in pain for over a month. It's been hurting in my upper right abdominal area. The doctor thought it was my gallbladder,so I had a hida scan and an ultrasound done and everything was normal. So he ordered a CT scan and lo behold they found a 3.5cm cyst on my right ovary. I'm still in pain and I was wondering if they would do surgery or if there's anything that they can give me to dissolve it? I'm tired of being in this much pain. He told me that my upper right sided pain could be from the cyst(referred pain). Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

Large cysts that do no dissolve need to be removed to help relive pain and to be checked for cancer. Cysts are removed via laparoscopy or from an open operation called laparotomy. For more information, check out this tutorial on ovarian cysts

rooted,
Thank you for responding. I've heard that before you have a period you develop a cyst and they usually dissolve afterwards. I've started to have pain Oct.22 and am still in pain. One of my friends had to have one of her ovary's removed due to a cyst. Back in 2005,I was told that I had little cysts on both ovary's. I didn't have much pain compared to this one. My doctor ordered a pelvic ultrasound for me(radiologist recommended),and he put in a referral for me to see a gynocologist to evaluate it. I just hope they call me real soon,so I can get it taken care of. Thank you again. Have a great day!! Smile

Hi flamepro. It sounds like you're taking the correct diagnostic steps. Don't wait for the office to call you, though...get active and participate in your health care by asserting the need to have the appointment. Call the office!

Hi rooted,
I called to schedule my pelvic ultrasound and they can't see me until the 16th,and I have an appointment to see a gyno not until the 26th. I can't believe it will be close to 2 weeks away and about 3 weeks to see the gyno. My doctor called me personally and told me that he won't be able to speed things up. He told me to keep taking vicoden until then. I'm afraid to keep taking vicoden(it's addictive). Do you know of anything else that I can take instead? I do have Ibuprofin,I might take that or I'll take midol. I can't believe my doctor has ordered more vicoden(30 more pills). He said it would tie me over until my appointments.

Hi,I had talked to the nurse and she said the pressure on my bladder could be from the cyst. I just had my period and it was soo irregular. They went from Oct.22nd,Nov.9th,and Dec.8th. But they have been heavy. I'm still in great pain(everyday). I have my ultrasound on tuesday and lately I've been in a little pain on my left side. I hope I'm not developing another cyst. I will update after my ultrasound. Take care everyone!!

Well,I got the results from the ultrasound and they look normal. They could not find any cysts. I'm really stumped but glad at the same time. I'm still keeping my gynocologist appointment. Maybe he can find out why I'm still in pain. I'm wondering if it had burst last month when I was in severe pain(I was doubled over). I still hurt everyday and not knowing why concerns me. I will let you all know what he says on the 26th. Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!
On my last post I put the wrong date..it was Oct.16th,Nov.9th,and Dec.8th. I just got off the phone again with another nurse(called me),and my doc wants me to keep the app. with my gyno. He said it could be due to my female parts. I'll talk to you all later!!

I wanted to update about my gyn app. today. The doctor did an internal exam and said he can feel my right side is tender(he hurt me during the exam). He said it could be endometriosis but won't know unless he did surgery. Has anyone bled alot after an exam before? I was bleeding quite a bit and was/am cramping and had some blod clots with it. I called the nurse and she had talked to the doctor about it. He said it could be 2 things,1 it could be from the exam or 2 I could be starting my cycle really early. My last cycle was the 8th of this month. I'm still cramping from the exam and it's been 5 hours ago. I just wanted to let everyone know. We don't have power,so not sure when I can get back on. Have a Happy New Year!

I had the same thing a few years ago
The docs found a cyst the size of a golf ball on my left ovary. They monitored it for a couple of months and as it was growing I went in to have a laporoscopy to drain the cyst. After the op asked the doc how it went and lo and behold when they went to drain it... it wasn't there! It had dissolved itself didn't need to do anything! So after months of pain it sorted itself out! Good luck fingers crossed the same will happen for you!

Hey Brooke. I have just found golf ball size one on left ovary and will see my doc tmorrow. The woman who did ultrasound said not to worry that my doc will just keep her eye on it by baving another U/S in about 6 weeks. I find that doctor,s are great for diagnosing stuff but the pedalling of drugs is overdone. I always try Natural treatments first THEN the Doctor! We all get so uptight and panick which is the worst thing for any condition. I think Western medicine is making us sicker (and poorer).
Dont stress Brooke just be wise! S.B (Australia)

I was wondering if anyone here can help me? 2 years ago i had a left ovary removed due to a complex mass. Before the surgery my life side hurt a lot and i was always bleeding. now for a couple months ive had the same symptoms again, not as severe though,on my right side, including the bleeding. ive been going to the doctor since june and had countless ultrasounds. there is a mass on my right ovary and polpys in my uterus. i have an appointment in 3 weeks to discuss a care plan with my doctor. i also had a blood test with a high count of ca-125. im scared im going to lose my other ovary. im only 25, and single. what are the chances that im going to have surgery again, and lose my other ovary? is this something i should be worried about, im really confused? help! any explanation of anything will be helpful
