I am new to the boards, so please forgive
me if this has been answered by somebody
else. 3 weeks ago I woke up with pain in
my right jaw. Since then it has gotten
progressively worse and now it's painful
to yawn, sneeze, eat, or drink. It has
also affected my right ear, which is now
very painful. I went to one dr. who
wanted to put me on prednizone, vicodin,
and vallium and said that it was TMJ. I
declined, and went to the dentist instead.
I found out that now my bite is
completely off, and they recommended to go
to oral surgeon, have all teeth capped,
and somehow get my bite back to normal.
But yesterday I went to my primary care
dr, who stated he wanted me to be seen by
a maxillofacial surgeon. Something about
it being too late for physical therapy. I
have worn a mouth guard, but the pain has
gotten unbearable in the last 3 weeks, and
I just don't know if I can wait another 3
to see the doctor. Does this really sound
like TMJ? Thank you for listening.
