Q: Rib cage lowered
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 1st, 2009
My rib cage has lowered drastically in a very short space of time. I am desperate to know if a procedure exists to correct this. The weight is taking its toll on my shoulders, neck and jaw.
When walking there is significantly more weight being placed on my hips, knees, and ankles. My back doesn’t feel able to support its own weight any more, and this seems to be taking its toll everywhere else. I have loose, weak joints anyway. I should also mention I have scoliosis (relatively mild) and so already had rib asymmetry and a hump, which means the right side, which sank first, is weighing down quite a bit heavier than the left. The uneven weight means that my neck is being pulled into a curve. . Also if anyone knows what may have caused this in the first place, I would be extremely grateful.

This sounds somewhat complicated. It is difficult to help without physically/visually seeing you.

There are different exercises that you can try, but again, you should be seen by a professional.

You may consider seeing a chiropractor or a physical therapist.

Here is a link to an exercise you can try. Good Luck
