I have been suffering with pain in my left buttock and lumber spine that we thought was due to degeneration, spondylosis, stenosis, and herniated discs pressing on the nerve roots. Despite all the fancy words, my lumbar spine is not that bad, it is relatively mild and has been very stable for many years. Recently, this buttock pain and swelling and pain of the left leg has made it difficult for me to walk and an MRI/CT showed this retroaortic left renal vein, of normal variation. Also, my left kidney is one centimeter bigger than the right. I have symptoms of adrenal disease, though my adrenals test fine, low acth -- which is the pituitary starving the adrenals, though cortosyn stim test shows my adrenals response with seven and eight times the normal response, showng they are starved. I was dxed with mild secondary adrenal dysfuction, but never put on meds. I have patchy vitiligo worse on the left leg, and hyperpigmentation that is pretty severe, including mucosal hyperpigmentation. I am untreated for adrenals and pituitary, just thyroid.

Does anyone else have these clusters of symptoms? Can nutcracker cause adrenal problems? What is the link between adrenal disease and RALRV? Is it caused by adrenals or does it cause adrenal problems?

And info anyone has would be great. I'd like to hear from anyone with this problem to compare symptoms. I have so much wrong with me its hard to know what causes what symptom.

Extremely eHealthy
You may experience a pelvic congestion syndrome, with pelvic pain and leg pain related to the renal vein variation you have.

Thank you. You are so right. I wish I knew this long ago. I had a full hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis, bad bleeding, polycystc ovary, and pain. Lots of pain. I still have cold belly and pain, lots of diverticulosis. And bad left leg and buttock pain. My doc was trying to say it was "normal"and didn't need to be treated because it was "of normal variation" and I had to explain it just meant the common, or popular variation, but that it was still abnormal and a problem. Thanks for your reply. Do you have this?
