Retinal Tear Problem -- what am I in for/recovery time

All of a sudden a few days ago I got this huge floater. A few days later, I noticed light flashes in a dark room. I went to the optometrist today and he said I had a small tear peripheral He also said there might be some minor bleeding in the area. My vision is excellent.

I am seeing a retinal specialist tomorrow.

I assume he might laser it right then and there (or freeze it or???).
Anway, any ideas on the recovery/restrictions with this surgery. I teach, enjoy what I do, and would like to return to work ASAP.

Any idea if I am lookng at days or weeks? I suspect everyone is different and it depends on the size of the tear. The optometrist said it was a small tear, but I'm not sure if he was just tryin to make me feel good!
