Repeat TMJ surgery ?

Am I a candidate for another surgery to the same TMJ that was surgically repaired ten years ago?

Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforuma nd I am glad to help you out.

In TMJ disorders, surgery is usually the last option when all other maneuvers have failed.

The 3 common surgeries (arthroplasties) which are done for the same are disc repositioning, discectomy & articular eminence recontouring.

These procedures are carried out depending on the type and degree of damage to the TM joint. In case, the joint is severely damaged, then the only answer which is left is TM joint is replacement.
