I suppose you are referring to masturbation. It is not necessary to ever masturbate though most men do. (even many married men do on occasion-hopefully not to the exclusion of their wife)-- Many times it may coincide with their wife's period or perhaps when the wife is pregnant or otherwise unavailable (out of town, etc.) There is no particular number of times per day/week/month that one should do this.
