Hi,
I am a 33 year old lady and I have two main symptoms.
The first is that I have very vivid dreams and remember about 10 dreams a night. I can remember details and specific conversations so much so that when I wake up I am very tired during the day. I would like to know why I am having so much REM sleep and not enough deep sleep. My doctor has put me on 150g veneflaxine (a medication for anxiety), however this has not helped. He then suggested adding 4mg dizapam, which helps a bit, however I do not want to rely on all this medication, as I would like to get to the root of the problem if possible.
I was born 10 weeks premature, and as a result have a form of cerebral palsy (spastic diplegia) which mildly affects my pelvis, legs and feet. Could the CP have something to do with things?
Also I suffer from bruxism (grinding of teeth), this causes me headaches, jaw pain, neck pain and shoulder pain, along with nausea and dizziness. My dentist has diganosed TMJ (a condition of the jaw joint), as says my jaw is in the wrong position, which is putting pressure on the inner ear, which in turn is making me unbalanced. My dentist thinks the bruxism is related to a maloccusion of my teeth. After doing various tests, she discovered I thrust my tongue forward, instead of back, and over the years this has narrowed my palete and caused my teeth and jaws to be out of alignment. She has given me braces to waer on my top and bottom teeth and tongue exercises to do, to correct the problems. I am wondering, however if the bruxism and REM sleep overload are connected at all?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Kind regards
Tasha
