I have been taking lamictal for 6 months now and overall it has been well. I still relapse with manic/depressive eps. Its beginning to take a toll on my relationship with my boyfriend of three years. He helps me in any way possible but I don't think I will ever be well enough to have a sort of stable relationship with him. When I get overly worked up and have a manic eps. and I am upset at the same time.. it doesn't go over to well.. what should i do?

It's hard to keep a stable relationship with bipolar disorder to deal with. Sometimes it just won't work because the other person isn't ready to deal with the extreme highs and lows. The best advice I can give is let your boyfriend know that you appreciate him trying to help you, even when it seems like you're hitting a wall. Also, make sure you're putting some effort into taking care of yourself. If it doesn't seem like the Lamictal is doing enough, try talking to your doctor about it and express your concerns. From my experience, trying to help myself as much as possible has helped to ease some of the strains on my partner.

I am right there
I am in the same situation. I have been with the same guy for 3 1/2 years and I recently attempted suicide two weeks ago. He said he could not be with me if I was going to do that. When we get into fights I have a difficult time and depression just comes over me. I have had a good several years where he never sae the depression and just the high part of my bipolar. He ever told me I should not take my pills. I said I am a 360 with out them. I am afraid to tell him I have bipolar. I understand where you are coming from. I am working on that. I am working with a counselor now.
