My boyfriend has HPV (Genital warts). They are visible. We had sex unprotected for the first time. He had some sort of acid put on the warts a few days previous. So they were in that stage where they were "dying" I suppose you could say. They were clearly still there none the less. At this point since its only been about a week I would like to know if receiveing a gardasil shot would do me any good.
We've always used condoms in the past

Hello,

Welcome to ehealthforum

Genital warts are caused by a virus. In order to transmit the virus one does not necessarily need to have any symptoms or any warts. The virus simply lives on and under the skin and the most common mode of transmission is sexual. It is always advisable to use protection while having intercourse even when he is on treatment as transmission risk is present.
Kindly get your self examined for the warts as condoms also do not provide hundered percent protection.
Take care!
