Hi, 3 weeks ago I went to the dentist for a checkup and learnt that I had gum inflammation. At that time, I noticed that my gums bled in a few areas when I brushed and that a few areas of my gums were slightly red. One area even looked a bit purple.
My dentist told me it was nothing serious though. Based on what I had read on the internet prior to the checkup, I assumed I had an early stage of gingivitis (Is that true?). Anyway, my dentist did a cleaning and scaling. He then told me me to brush after every meal and taught me the correct brushing technique. He also taught me how to floss and to do that once a day, preferably after the last meal of the day. With this, he said I should see improvements within 3 to 4 weeks.
Today, I have seen a number of improvements in my gums. They are slightly pinker and that one area that looked slightly purple is no longer purple. It is only slightly red in fact. However, in terms of the swelling, my gums have gone down slightly. However the necks of the gums in a few parts still bulge slightly. Also, my gums no longer bleed though which is obviously a good sign.
I was wondering if the parts of the gums that are still swollen could have been like that to begin with? Or should I be more patient about this and just keep up with what I am doing now?

Also, I have been taking supplements as well. I have been brushing my gums with pastes made of vitamin c (non-acidic) and vitamin e. Alao, I have also been taking 3-4 tablespoons of flaxseed oil for the omega 3 for the last week now.

Another good thing to do is dry brushing..When you are sitting watching TV or anything that does not require a free hand, just brush your teeth as you sit there...This is good for the gums...
