Hello,

I have had a reddish colored lesion on my right shin for approximately four years or so. I am 26 years of age and had no idea that skin cancer could be anything other than an assymetrical mole...therefore, I didn't worry about it until just recently. This lesion usually does not bother me at all...but sometimes it itches and a skin forms over it like it is able to be popped; somewhat like a pimple, but without any puss - just a watery substance. I am growing more and more concerned about this, but I do not have health insurance so I have yet to make it to a dermatologist. The lesion does not appear to have grown any larger, but sometimes it itches in the immediate area surrounding the lesion. Please advise as to what you may think this lesion may be...and because I have had it for so long with no problems do you think it could even be skin cancer? I appreciate any advice or information you could provide for me at this time!

Thank you for your assistance,

Lauri

Get it checked out
Lauri,

Definitely get it checked out. I had something suspicious a year ago and it was basal skin cancer. Now a year later, squamous cell skin cancer. If you are feeling uncomfortable about your lesion, then that is enough to go get it checked. I would contact a doctor or dermatologist and ask what kind of payment plan you could get on. I'm sure something could be worked out.
