A few weeks ago, I had these red, itchy bumps that had a hard center. The red bumps started around my waistline and itched like crazy. Each day I would get a few more (no more than 4-5 per day) and it was more concentrated around my knees and ankles. There were also a couple on my forearms and 1-2 on my hands. I tried Benadryl caplets and cream, Calamine lotion, but nothing seemed to work. A few days into the itching, I had an ear ache in one ear for 2 days and a few days later the glands by my jawline were swollen and tender. I wasn't sure if any of that was related to it though. The only thing that seemed to help stop the itching was by taking a very warm bath. Then I was good until the next morning when it would start itching again. The whole "outbreak" lasted exactly 2 weeks, was gone for 2 weeks and then it was back for another week. The itching was back, but the earache and swollen glands were not. My red bumps did not appear to be fluid filled, just hard bumps about the diameter of a pencil eraser. Each bump did not itch for the whole 2 weeks, they only itched a few days and stopped, but then new ones were beginning. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like Chiggers
I'm not a doctor but it sounds like chiggers to me. Especially when you say around the waistline and knees and ankles. I had them a long time ago when playing outside with my kids. We put clear fingernail polish on the outbreaks to suffocate the bug and washed everything thoroughly. Anything we ever use outside we wash thoroughly as soon as it comes in. That was some of the worst itching I can remember!
