I had a bad cold and the last few days of my cold I noticed what looked like chicken pox all over my back and bum.
I went to the Dr and he said it would take a week and it would go away, that it was a viral rash.

It went away, then I got a stomach bug(a few days later) for 4 days and the rash came back!!
Also I was a bit dizzy as well.
So I went to the Dr and he said It would go away and the dizzy was due to viral infection.

Now the dizzy has gone away and the rash has come back AGAIN!

This has all been within a month.............and also I was back to work off maturnity leave just a few days ago so I have had some stress.

I had my blood work done and everything checked out ok.
SHoudl I be worried?
Should I see a specialist?
Does it sound like after each viral infection I get a rash every time?

THXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX so much for your help.

Extremely eHealthy
Many common viruses such as rhinovirus (the common cold virus) can produce a skin rash.
If this rash was in form of reddish-purple, target-shaped patches on the skin, could be a mild form of erythema multiforme.
These skin lesions appear like an allergic reaction to certain medications (antibiotics, pain killers) and certain viral and bacterial infections.
Some people have recurrent episodes of erythema multiforme, usually due to cold sores or herpes infection.
The development and clearing of the skin lesions occur in approximately one week, but the rash may continue to appear in certain areas of the body, for as long as two or three weeks.

True diagnosis can be given only after physical examination.
If you are really worried you can visit a dermatologist or doctor for infectious diseases!

Best wishes!

Prolonged Viral rash
My baby also had a rash the day he had fever 2 months ago. Initially it was only the torso, back and limbs. Also controlled by zrytec. But two weeks after his fever already subsided, it got worse, and needed more zyrtec. And then when he got fever again one month after the last bout, he got it worse than ever, all over the face as well. These rash come together to form welts at certain parts of the body even., Had consulted specialists and dermatologist - they also say uticaria of unknown cause triggered by viral infection. But it's been two months now, and not a day has gone by when he does not have it. I have to give two -3 x the usual dosage of zyrtec to control it or it will come worsen within a day. I am at my wits end as I hate giving medicaitio to a baby for prolonged period. His rashes always worsen even on zyrtec when he is not well. But it never goes away completely at all.

I wanted to do food allergy test as Ihave family history of allergies and I dont know how to test him for food allergy in the weaning process when he is pepertually up and down covered in rashes. The doctor from allergy clinic has advised me to stop the anitihistamine for 5 days prior to a skin prick test if he can bear with it. I have stopped for a day already, but I can see it come on a lot. Other than discomfort, will the rash hurt him? He does not seem to scratch it in the day, but night he keeps waking. Very worried how bad it will get by day 5.

He is 12 months .

Desparate and worried.
