Q: Recurring Chlamydia

3 months ago I got chlamydia from a new female partner who I am still with. She showed no symptoms and had no idea until I started showing signs about 2 months after we started having unprotected sex. My symptoms were penile discharge and a slight burning/itching sensation.

We were both treated at an urgent care with Zithromax (1 dose) and a shot in the butt for gonorrhea (recommended by the doc to be safe) and after about 2 weeks everything was completely healed for me.

We followed strict condom use for 4 months, meanwhile she was tested for chlamydia again and came out negative. I was not tested as I didn't show any signs which were very acute before.

We deemed it safe to have unprotected sex again and 2 weeks later I am now showing signs just like I did before. I was fine for the last 4 months of protected sex, does this mean that my parter was falsely deemed negative when she in fact was still infected? Monogamy is not a question for me. What gives?

Seems to me you addressed the two logical ways you could have it recur in your own question. I don't know what you want to hear, just get medication and get tested after wards as well as her this time.

hey, yes i think it can reaccur, my ex now who i was with gave it to me this way, he was treated and i was tested at the start of the relationship, then some time later i started showing symptons of it, so i got tested and obviously very confused told my partner- he swore he hadn't been with anyone else and i hadn't got it from anyone else so we could only presume that the dose he took before didn't cure it completely. Who really knows, anyhow i would say next time both get tested again because this is a std that doesn't always show symptons.
good luck Smile

plus i forgot to add, he did come back positive for it however didn't have any symptons and wouldn't have known if i hadn't been tested that he had it. But when he first had it, he did have symptons, so like i say best to be safer than sorry.
