Q: Recurring bv infection ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 3rd, 2009
I have a few questions??? How can one get a reoccuring bv infection for over the last 3 years? I have been diagnosed over and over again with the same thing. I have done everything that the Dr. has asked me to, I don't wear anything but cottton underwear, I stopped drinking soda and only drink water, I don't douch, etc..etc... I find that I "leak" very often which causes me to be very moist and also causes a smelly odor. I now get a sore of some sort on my vagina area every month before my period is due. I read that I may have been misdiagnosed with something that is very similar to a bv infection. What can I do to stop being so moist and to not get this reoccuring bv? Please advise. Thanks.

According to the symptoms you reported, you might be experiencing urine incontinence. The constant presence of urine in the genital area might change the acidity of the vaginal fluids causing better environment for the bacteria to multiply and spread.
What the cause of the possible urine incontinence is can not be told without additional tests by urologist or gynecologist.
Meanwhile, avoiding intercourse and having your sexual partner tested for bacterial infection might be recommendable.
