I'm a 27 year old female that has had moderate to severe back pain for the last two years. I have always been an athlete so I'm sure that contributes to my problems but on the other hand I'm fairly young, active and have always been in shape. Two years ago I started having headaches and a lot of neck/back issues so I started seeing my old chiropractor. Since then I have been under regular chiropractic care...meaning that during my bad times I go 3 times a week and otherwise once every 2 weeks. Despite all of this, I have had 5 major spasms that stem from between the C6 to T1 vertebrae. These spasms are so severe that I cannot move and I'm brought to tears. I'm not sure how to stress the pain but I can say that I feel that I have a high pain tolerance. As a reference point I played soccer on a fractured ankle for 9 months (granted it wasn't a supporting bone but painful none the less) and fractured my pelvic bone during an ice hockey game while I was 12 and didn't shed a tear. I would honestly rather break a bone then suffer through the peak of the spasm. I cannot move, breathe deeply, talk, you name it. To get up and down I have to apply pressure along the spine in that area and hope for the best. I know this is long and rambling but I am at my wits end and I cannot keep spending money on therapy and I cannot keep going through this pain.

Does anyone have any sugestions?

Yes I have suggestions.

Stop seeing a chiropractor right away and get a referral to a spine specialist that has an MD after his name.

You need to see either an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in spines or a neurosurgeon that specializes in spines.

You need a full spine evaluation by a medical spine specialist, no doubt an MRI and be properly diagnosed.

Only then will you know what is and isn't going on with your spine and be able to be properly treated.

Good luck
