Well, here goes. First post, and I registered for this, seeing as it seems this is the only place I can get honest advice.

At the moment, I'm 19, and I get daily, excruciating back pain. There's one spot in my lower left back that feels like a knot, but never goes away no matter what I do. I get extreme pain near my shoulders, near my ribs, basically all over. I've been experiencing this for years, and have no idea what the cause could be.

Also, since I don't see a general forum for multiple questions, I'll ask the rest here as well.

Some days I get nauseous with a sense of vertigo, and it overwhelms most of the time. I also get pain in my stomach, and constipation usually accompanies it. I went to the hospital for this, they said it was a minor GI bug, and it was nothing to worry about, but it happens every other day, sometimes every day. Frankly, I'm worried about my health.

I have painful urination, always in one place in my urethra. I saw a doctor for this as well, he gave me some antibiotics (can't remember which). They didn't help at all, I didn't go back.

My neck aches and is stiff on a daily basis - which also leads to headaches of an extreme degree. Every joint in my body aches daily as well.

So, I suppose my overall question would be..

What exactly is the cause of all this?

Hello SSeck,

Welcome to this forum!!!!

Thank you for your very kind words for us on this forum.

SSeck, I would highly recommend that you first see your regular doctor and explain to him/her what you have kindly shared with us. I'm no doctor, however, I think unlikely you have the "GI bug".

Regarding your back pain - I would suggest that after you receive your doctor's advice that you search for the best spinal surgeon in your area. Make an appointment and ask for his/her advice regarding your back pain.

I wish you the very best. Please do stay in touch and let us know how things go for you.

Take care.

From the information given I would say that you have suffered what is sometimes called a chronic soft tissue injuries to the cervical spine (original problem)and lumber spine (conductible pain), which could have led to vertigo ( occipital nerves ),painful urination (L5/S1),constipation (L4/L5) due to inflammation stimulted tissue. As others have suggested, I recommend you make an appointment with you primary care physician, or alternatively, a neurologist who can better take a detailed history and do an exam.I would agree that physical therapy, intensive acupuncture, and mobilization exercises can be helpful .Good luck

Hi,

First of all, I know how you feel. I have the same symptoms from a sacroiliac ligament injury. I dont only get nausea, I throw up from the pain and the pulling of the tissues. I also have vertigo and see silver spots most of the time.

Most specialists I have seen dont know what I have. I met this sports doctor once and he was right on with all of my symptoms and said it was ligaments. All I can do to help my situation is to work out. The cardio really helps eventhough I want to throw up and die when I am doing. I was told that the body creates some kind of glue to hold tissues together during our sleep and the cardio was helping to undo this work to make space for the ligament to stretch to its natural place.

Needless to say that my life is on hold because of this injury. I lost of my past jobs because it and can't perform the way I want. The pain is just so unbearable that the only thing I can do somedays is lie down and focus on something positive in my mind hoping it will go away fast.

I am really sorry to read about your condition and I hope you will get better fast. Perhaps exercising will help you.

Good luck

Wow your symptoms are like mine. I have had chronic upper back pain for about a year now, accompanied by muscle pain in the rest of my body, nausea and bad headaches. My doctor thought it was fibromyalgia until I went to a pain specialist who through that diagnosis out the window. I have had everything from MRI's to bone scans wand nothing has come up. He is still searching for a diagnosis and is now testing for something called hyperkeliamia I believe. I have been off work for months now and am on narcotis for the pain because it is so intense. PLease let us know if they find a diagnosis. And good luck.

A major problem with conventional health care is the need to diagnose the problem. We need to know what to say and the practitioner needs to know what to ask to get the right information. Without accurate information doctors have a hard time knowing what is wrong. To ease some symptoms of your back pain, and to get a better understanding of what is happening in your body, consider Float Therapy. It is a passive Therapy which gives your body a chance to heal itself, and figure out what is wrong. After a Float session you will find it easier to articulate the problems to a Doctor. If there is a Float Therapy Centre in your area I suggest you give a try, at the very least it will provide some non-pharmaceutical relief of your pain.
