I had my gallbladder removed Sept 06 for low ejection fraction. During the surgery, the doctor completely transsected my common bile duct at the stub of the liver. He recreated the common bile duct with a Roux-en-y procedure using the intestine. He did not use any stents. The next day, he had to reoperate to repair a leak. Ever since the surgery, I've been experiencing right side pain and recurrent fevers (every 4 - 6 weeks) which are extremely high (104+). I've been in and out of the hospital, just recently with Sepsis. They've run test after test, and I've seen several doctors, but none of them agree on the source of the fevers. Some say it's bacteria traveling up into the liver from the "open" intestine and others say I'm forming a stricture in my bile duct which is not allowing the bile to flow out. My liver enzymes are normal and that's what's confusing. I don't want to go through a stenting procedure and expose myself to more risk if that's not the problem. My health seems to be spiraling downward and I'm so frustrated. I'm only 40 years old and have a family to care for and a job which I must keep for the medical insurance to pay for all the doctor visits. I'm looking for people in similar circumstances which maybe have suggestions on what they've done to resolve the problem. I've gotten so depressed lately and I'm beginning to feel like this situation is hopeless. Please help...
