Hey there,

I am a 19yr old guy and im due to have a circumcision operation within the next couple of weeks and im fine with it and completely clued up on all the info behind it. But I would just like to ask a question regarding recovery.

Ive recently aquired myself a new girlfriend and dont want to freak her out by telling her. She lives miles away and i only get to see her once every couple of weeks because were both at university. She'll probably wanna come down and see me about 3 weeks after i visit her this weekend. Im told it can take 4-6 weeks before you can have sex properly again. Is there any other sort of fun we could have? and does it hurt to have an erection 3 weeks after having the op done?

Cheers Will

A circumcision is major surgery and you can never have too much information. I think your girlfriend will notice that you have been circumcised. It is not something you can hide when having intimate relations. You should tell your girlfriend and the two of you can explore each other (without using your penis). The exploration should teach you a lot about your and her bodies. Besides being educational, exploring is lots of fun. Smile

Im not having it done for the hell of it. Im having it done because i have phimosis (tight foreskin) sorry i should have included that, it makes my post make much more sense. Obviously im going to get erect when im with her, jus wanna know when its safe to have one again without it hurting.....

That makes a little more sense. I hope that you are aware that, normally, phimosis can be treated non-surgically. A common treatment is gentle stretching stretch http://pages.suddenlink.net/manual_methods /phimosis.html with or without a steroidal cream. In the United States, where there is a culture of circumcision, most doctors immediately recommend circumcision to treat phimosis without considering less drastic options first.

If you look, you will find many reports of men who were circumcised to treat phimosis and have come to regret the surgery because of the long term effects. After all, circumcision amputates erogenous tissue from your penis. I don't want to be cantankerous. I just want to make sure that you have all the info before you are cut. The choice is yours.
