Q: Rebound Redness

For the past couple of years I was addicted to eye drops like Visine, Clear Eyes and Opcon-A. I developed a case of Rebound Redness and went to an eye doctor. He seemed to think it was allergies and gave me drops that did nothing so I decided to stop going and wasting my money.

The reason I think (and I pretty much know) that it is rebound redness is because the only time my eyes WERENT bloodshot were when I used to drops, and when the drug wore off my eyes got bloodshot again.

About 1.5 weeks ago I quit the redness releivers cold turkey. The redness in my eyes has gone down noticably, but its still there. The veins in my eyes are noticably thinner and arent as bright. How much longer do you think it will take before they go away completely? I know I havent been off them for long, but im not very patient lol

Also, my eyes become quite dry sometimes which I think is also leading to the redness becoming worse. I read online that there is something in the redness releiver drops that can cause your eye to dry out as well.

Right now I am using Systane that I keep in my fridge. It helps dim the redness but seems to quickl evaporate leaving my eyes dry again. Are there any other drops I can try? I have tried Soothe XP and Optive as well and they only have minimal effects as well.

Bryan9182,

How are your eyes now a days? Are you still using the drops? Are they getting better and better?
