Menstruation Answer A5477
Bleeding between periods is irregular bleeding (metrorrhagia). It could be caused by various things, mainly divided in to functional and organic reasons.

Functional reasons are, in fact, various hormonal disturbances in the axis hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries. Organic reasons could be infection or various tumors (benign or malignant).

A vaginal examination, Pap-test and ultrasound scan are required to find out the reason for the irregular bleeding. You should consult your gynecologist about your problem.
