Q: Reasons for low likelihood of pregnancy
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 14th, 2009
Ok, so a little too much alchohol left me and a guy I like fooling around. We eventually went o dry humping without clothes on and I am pretty sure that a few times the tip of his penis may have entered me. (Not very far at all.) I decided to be safe and got the Plan B and took it within 12 hours of the event. Also, he never ejaculated, we stopped before that happened. Also I had just finished with the lightest day of my period 4 days before. What are the chances that I may be pregnant? I am stressing myself out over this since it was my first time doing anything like that.

Given the data you provided, it seems likely that the chances are really small for you to get pregnant: first of all, because of the low chance that these days were the ovulatory ones, secondly because you took the post-coital contraceptive pill within the first 12 hours of the event and lastly, because your partner did not ejaculate intravaginally.

However, if your next period is missing for 5 days (the test is not reliable before that)-you might want to take the urine home pregnancy test, just to be on the safe side. In the future, you should know that ovulation always takes place 14 days (plus/minus 2-3 days) before the beginning of your next period, but you can count this way only if you have regular menstrual cycles. Usage of spermicidaly-lubricated condoms is highly advisable not only for contraception, but also to prevent acquiring STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).
