I've been having problems with anxiety, panick attacks , now depression as I feel I carnt do a lot of normal things: I've started therapy, medication don't seem to work, tryed a few, have u spoke to a doctor? They may be able to refer you for some therapy , have no idea if it helps as I've only been once, and found it very distressing, and I would rather not go again to be honest .

Hang in ther everyone! I have been living with anxeity since 1992. At times it (as you each know) can be horrible, and as i have found, more so in the beginning. You are not crazy. My greatest strength has been through prayer and the realization that my attacks, OCD, stress, depression started are thing that i have leanred to live with and be happy. Some have cancer and other bad stuff, we have anxeity. Keep talking with people and reaching out. You can do it! Smile

Hey guys, I went to see a phsycologist for my anxiety. I have been a total stress head and workaholic all my life. I was suffering panic attacks daily and the doctor wanted to put me on anti depressants. I didn't want to pop pills, so the phsycologist was the other option. What a turn around: this guy diagnosed low seratin in my brain, a deficient gene from birth. Gave me 16 weeks of treatment therapy twice a week, costly but worth every penny. Now, I don't get panic attacks, and control the seratin via diet. Please consider seeing someone - oh and one visit isn't enough. I won't say I'm not stressed anymore, who would not be in the world we live in. I now understand a lot of why people do what they do to me, and logically live with it. I totally agree with stweinak..... we need to speak to and support each other, and we are always stronger than we realise xx good luck all.

Hi there my name is Simon. I would really encourage you to find someone to talk to whether it's a friend: someone who you trust, or whether there is some phoneline you can phone; in the UK we have something called Samaritans, who you can call/email from abroad.

Alternatively, I'd really encourage you to get professional help; find someone you feel comfortable with and feel that you can trust. I do believe there's so much you can do to overcome your anxiety.

I used to experience massive anxiety. For me it was a learned behaviour; my dad is an anxious person and I learned it from him. He is still an anxious person. However I've learned how not to be anxious person. It can be uncomfortable going to speak to someone if you’ve not done this before, this is normal for many people.

I am actually a hypnotherapist and I work with lots of people with these issues. I ask people what stops them from getting help and many say that:
They think that maybe nothing will help or
They are scared of trying to sort their issues out and failing
They are ashamed of their feelings

These are all things that can get in the way. Try this: if your friend came to you and was upset, think about what you'd say to them. I’m guessing you would be kind, supportive and encouraging. You need to treat yourself the same way.

Remember the words of Winston Churchill:

Never, never, never give up.

Seriously! I had a client who hadn’t left the house for 18 months because of her anxiety, and after coming to see me to do a training program to help her (which was really a huge challenge for her to leave the house: she was so nervous) she went out for a meal, went to the theatre, travelled on the underground in the rush hour. She recently sent me a picture of her in Australia (she lives in the UK).

So make a decision that you are going to do everything you can to beat this, and make a start.
