Q: Reaction to Orencia

I was receiving my 8th infusion of Orencia and was doing very well on it when my body started burning and I started itching so badly I took my car keys and was using them to scratch myself. Then I was unable to breathe. After 2 injections of cortisone, 1 of benadryl and 1 of something else plus oxygen I started to get a little better except for the itching. With the cancer scare announced today this line of drugs is out for me. Has anyone else experienced this reaction?

Extremely eHealthy
Small percent of patients using this drug may experience acute infusion-related events as a side effect.
Acute infusion-related events (adverse reactions occurring within 1 hour of the start of the infusion) can be in form of low or high blood pressure, difficulties breathing, nausea, flushing, hives, cough, hypersensitivity, pruritus (itchiness), rash, and wheezing.
