re-damaging bulging disk
Posted: 05-29-08 13:50pm

about 3 years ago i was diagnosed with a lower back bulging disk. last year a subsequent mri showed that the disk went back into "proper" place. 4 days ago i fell (falling foward, as my right knee and arms broke the majority of the fall). can anyone PLEASE help potentially put my mind at ease? if i had re-damaged that disk (or any other), wouldn't i show symptoms by now?

thank you,

There is always a chance that you could have injured more by the fall. Are you in any more pain then usual? If so is the pain in a differnent area them the buldging disc. If so, I would tell you neuro about your fall and have another MRI if he/she orders one.

Hello Elniko,

Right ON CarolDiane!!!

YES, do see your doctor, and especially a spinal surgeon for their advice. YES again to having that second MRI.

SOOOoo Monday morning make that telephone call to your doctor. THEN seek out the very best spinal surgeon in your area for his/her advice.

As RichT already knows, I have two bulging disc at L3-4 and a week before Christms I felt off a step ladder. I was in emmediate pain on a scale from one to ten I was an 8. I had broken my T-12 into L1 and it was 55% fracture. I had my kypherplasty (insersion of cement) done on 3/3/08. A remarcable job. No more pain and now all I have left that is a dull pain all the time is my two bulding dic's. I was out of the hospital the next morning. Piece of cake!

Hi Rich, Hope you are doing well also. We've all had a hard road to go down. But, when all is said and done, I really consider us very lucky. We are up walking, we still have our minds. Most of all, we can still complete most daily tasks. And for that I am thankful. I told me neuro that after making two beds I am done for a bit. To much bending and my disc's give me fits. So to compinsate, I take my time and rest in between chores. We have to listen to out limitations and take heed to them.

Hugs RichT,
CarolDiane
